When fuqtards attack.

Some time ago, I did verbal combat with a gentleman who had to have things his own way. Since anyone can have a bad day and find themselves getting under my skin in a vexing way, I only phrased things for that day.

A few days ago, he came back to establish a rental account. He wasn't being a raging asshole this time, so I went ahead with it. About a day went by before the store had problems. You see, when people set up a rental membership with the store, we require a credit card to be kept on file. You really can't afford to rent to people these days without having some form of collateral. In addition, thanks to a few people at the very beginning of the store history who used cards that were no longer active, we will verify that the card has an available balance.
Consequently, when I started his membership, I verified that his card had funds for about the cost of one movie. I did inform him that I was making sure the card was active and had a balance available. Nothing was being charged, so no problem. It does reserve that amount however. Depending on the bank, it will clear out between 24 hours and seven days. Usually, tending towards the former rather than the latter end of the spectrum. Lucky us, it looks like his bank is a long holder. So this guy hopped on the phone and complained to us about charging his card.
Being the nice guy he is, the owner contacted the customer's bank and kicked into motion getting the hold released.
Nonetheless, this gleaming ray of sunshine that is one of our newest customers took it upon himself while renting two new movies today to say that he hadn't gotten the charge reversed yet. Bummer dude. What can I say? It's been noted on your account that the hold release was sent through. The owner has better things to do than dick customers around lying about it. All I could really do was explain what a verification was and that I hoped his bank unlocked those funds soon. He was almost rabid in expressing how I was totally wrong.

I fear I was a bit too generous in my treatment of him. Should his demeanor not improve in his next few visits, we may perhaps have to revisit the subject of his custom, subsequently terminate his membership and have him patronize other stores more in keeping with his view as central to the orbiting of the heavens.
