Why second chances are often wasted
Perchance, if you and your girlfriend had been asked to leave a store because of unbecoming conduct, wouldn’t that leave even a bit of an impression upon you? Might it be logical that not only would you retain memories of that encounter, but that the staff would as well?
Later, if you decided to come back to the store, could it follow that you should try to behave yourself? Even better, let’s say you come in several times to buy the same item in the space of a couple hours. Perhaps this might strike the store personnel as strange and possibly suspicious. When they follow you out the door to make sure you aren’t up to something stupid in the parking lot, they see a pair of legs bobbing around up in the air inside a car. Not only officially misbehaving again, but doing it in a more public forum which could bring about severe consequences. So when the concerned clerk raps on the side of the vehicle to get their attention and the directive to leave, not only do they rev their engine in sulky manner, but they roundly tell said clerk to fuck off in a variety of ways.
At what point, would you still believe that your business is still desired at his store? Where exactly did the theory that everything was alright spring into mind?
It never fails to astound me how oblivious people are to the consequences they put in motion.
