I just don't see it.
What attraction does a video arcade hold for a blind man?
I suppose listening to a movie could have some appeal, although selecting a particular title would likely be problematic. On the other hand, for the forty-five minutes he was on the premises, he never did enter one of the booths. I have no idea how much longer he may have been here before I came on shift.
Instead, he would stand in a far corner as if put into time out. It reminded me of an aquarium fish that insists upon swimming against one wall of the tank until it stubbornly clogs itself between the filter and plastic sword plant. Unlike the fish, he would occasionally break away to wander down the corridor before stationing himself in the corner.
White cane or no, that type of behavior falls under the heading of “hinky”.
One could theorize that he was hoping for some human interaction, but for the fact he never once approached or addressed another person. With the way he was acting, it was highly unlikely anyone would be stopping to initiate conversation without him taking the first step. Unless he was meeting someone here and was stood up, I have no idea why he wandered in today.
The mind boggles.
