Lost with nary a clue.

It's the simple things that make work interesting. Lucky me, simple things tend to congregate in my store.

Although the current crop of customers seems well on the way to being silage, the greatest annoyance at present is a video that is AWOL. Shortly after the store opened, we've had movies pop up on occasion that are listed as being in stock and yet are nowhere to be found in the store. Suffice to say, it bugs the neon-green peanut butter out of me.

My practical side screams in fury that we really need to do a hard-line audit of all the movies in our system. There've been too many staffing changes, too many people let go for cause for me to think mischief has not been committed upon our merchandise. Of course, for me to do this effectively, it would require the store to be closed so we could concentrate on matching up box to movie to ID number. Understandably, the owner is loath to take that step because of the loss of a day's revenue.

Except it makes little sense for me to have to spend over two hours in a vain hunt for a movie when I have a store to run in the meantime. Not to mention the aggravation the customer feels when they want to watch or purchase one of these phantom movies. Looking incompetent to the clientele is so very rewarding. Oh, I can't forget the electric tingle of exhilaration as the boss expresses his frustration at yet another discovery in the multi-year long issue.

Overall, the owner kicks ass. He's a great guy to work for.

Nevertheless, I could gleefully throttle him for his repeated attempts to do spot-repairs on our stock. We need a store audit. Tiresome and inconvenient it may be, however it's impossible to synch up our actual product with what we are supposed to have when there are still items being received in and sold.

My angst is starting to taste like candy.
