I just ran across a rather disturbing article. It seems the Netherlands have decided to let civil procedure outpace common sense. Although it looks to be destined for a short lifespan, it astounds me it has even gotten as far as it has.
Are you kidding? You ARE criminals. There is a reason that pedophilia is almost universally banned. It is repellant to healthy adults to desire sexual relations with a child. Psychologists have enjoyed lucrative careers founded upon putting sexually abused children back together as best they can. This is not a healthy sexual outlet.
In my area of the country, age of consent is eighteen. Your location may vary. Does this mean that children hit that particular benchmark and immediately transform into fully mature humans? No. It's an arbitrarily chosen age for when most people are capable of handling sexual relations. Some people mature faster than others. Sure, now and again you may discover a fourteen-year-old who might be able to enter into an adult relationship. On the other hand, I'd have an easier time showing you a thirty-year-old who isn't capable.
It is not a question of puberty. If some poor waif suddenly goes through adolescence at five, it is not going to indicate she has the emotional capacity or mental sophistication to be having sex. Lowering the age of consent merely accelerates the expected rate of mental/emotional maturity. It increases the percentage of those who are not ready to be having sex suddenly being expected to handle everything on an adult level.
Thus, if these guys have a yen for twelve-year-olds in a sexual context, by and large they have a desire for pre-sexual androgynous bodies and minds that find Disney Channel endlessly fascinating. That's seriously fucked up!
I don't believe these guys have a right to representation in society. I don't think people who feel compelled to fillet other humans and display their skins tacked to the outside of their houses have a right to representation. I don't believe some guy packing his anus with kittens and masturbating over terminally burned patients has a right to representation either. Some shit is against the law because it's intrinsically destructive.
The fact these people have not been dropped into an oubliette and castrated by red-hot pincers to a man is a testament to the optimism that enough talk will change anyone's behavior. And the absence of prisons world-wide shows just how well-founded that idealism is.
