More beef on the nachos?

I made an interesting discovery not that long ago. It looks like one of the larger production companies is expanding their range.

Nacho Vidal has been involved with Evil Empire for several years after entering hard-core in 1998. He's made a name for himself in the industry. If you enjoy watching a large, dark complected man engaging in rough anal sex, then you've probably enjoyed a few of his films. Belladonna and Rocco Siffredi work with him quite a lot.
Some point around 2001, Nacho started producing and directing in addition to being in front of the camera. It's a move that seems to be good for both him and Evil Empire.
It's here that he started putting out she-male titles. "Bang Bang She Males", "All-American Transsexual Road-Trip", "She Plays with her Cock" for example. Between him and Joey Silvera, Evil Empire has several titles all rapidly gaining sequels or volumes.
But then a few days ago I discovered Nacho has put out a gay release.

My brain started to percolate on this new information. I was impressed that Evil Empire had the guts to bust into the realm of "hot man-on-man action." They cut their teeth on straight porn and they are good at it. Their titles may not be your cuppa tea, but if you pick one up, you know what to expect. Empire is solidly consistent and from the rental standpoint that means I have yet to have a customer come back and tell me it was disappointing. There are more than a couple companies and directors who seem to be either right on for the viewer or totally lackluster. So I was not too surprised when they edged into tranny movies; they had the solid core to branch from and the format didn't diverge radically from the boy/girl-girl/girl titles they'd already mastered. Gay flicks are a different breed. The pacing, the focus, the tone are divergent from the "straight" side. Evil Empire is taking a risk, but if they get the formula right their infrastructure could give companies like Stallion and Falcon serious competition. I'm curious as to whether other main-stream production companies will follow them into the gay video market.

The other thread of thought found it interesting that Nacho has been moving steadily along the continuum. Was he always bi-sexual and has only now found the way to indulge both tastes? Is he really gay, but was biding his time until he could do the films he really wanted to do? It's probably too soon to tell, but I have confidence it will become news by the next time the AVN awards come around.
